Vintage Coloring Books

I grew up in the 1970s. Yes, I am that old. It was long before adult coloring was a thing. Coloring books were printed on the cheapest possible newsprint paper. We bought Laurentian pencil crayons and a kind of hard almost pencil lead like crayons. ( I don’t remember the name). My mom sharpened our pencil crayons with a kitchen knife because we didn’t have a pencil sharpener.

Despite all of these old fashioned things, the coloring book pictures themselves were of the highest quality. Animals looked like animals. People looked like people. The drawings were sweet and gave off a vibe that encouraged children to be their best selves.

I have found a treasure trove of these coloring books. Of course, no publisher is actually printing them any more, but I got lucky and can find an endless supply of printable versions.

If you would like to introduce these coloring books to your children, check out a few of them that I have listed and watch for more. I keep adding them as time allows.
